Mexican Heritage Plaza

Neighborhood: East San Jose

General Information

The Mexican Heritage Plaza (MHP) is a beautiful and serene oasis located in the heart of San Jose. The School of Arts and Culture at MHP is a place of education, culture, and community that celebrates the rich diversity of Silicon Valley. The Plaza is rooted in the Mexican experience and was built on the site of the Safeway where labor leader Cesar Chavez led the first migrant worker boycott.

The Mexican Heritage Plaza makes learning in the arts – dance, music, theater and visual arts—accessible to the entire community through classes for adults and children. Whether you're swinging by to check out a cultural performance or you'd just like to meander the grounds for a little extra beauty and calm, a trip to the Mexican Heritage Plaza is just what any culturally-centered trip to San Jose needs.
