Overfelt Gardens & Chinese Cultural Garden
Neighborhood: East San Jose
32-acres of winding paths circle around three dry ponds, a garden, a picnic area, and Mildred Overfelt's old dairy farmhouse at Overfelt Gardens Park in East San Jose. Grab a book at the Educational Park Branch Library at the park's edge and spend an afternoon reading at one of the many benches situated throughout the park.
Overfelt Gardens is also home to the Chinese Cultural Garden. The Chinese Cultural Garden was inspired in 1971 by Frank and Pauline Lowe. Find the Friendship Gate and stroll past the large statue of Confucius or view the stately pavilions as the sounds of San Jose fade away and an ancient time and civilization pervades. While the park has seen better days, it is still a place of peace and quiet, and brings important aspects of Chinese history and culture to San Jose.
Free lot and street parking.
