Not only is San Jose the10th largest city in the U.S., but we are also very green conscious.  We are one of the first cities to start a composting program and recycle from paper products, to carpeting, to food waste.  We donate what we cannot recycle such as furniture, supplies, poster board, scrap metal, carpet rolls, and foam boards to non-profit organizations, Resource Area for Teaching (RAFT) and local schools. San Jose Convention & Cultural Facilities will be climate “neutrals” by the end of 2008 and anticipate a LEED’s Green Building Certification by the end of 2010. Our Mayor of San Jose, Chuck Reed has launched the San José Green Vision in October 2007, and has 10 ambitious goals that will guide the city over the next 15 years including a commitment to receive all electrical power from clean renewable sources.

Event Services – One Team for All Your Event Needs!

Team San Jose’s renowned “one-team for all your event needs” service has meeting planners raving – in fact, more than 97 percent of planners in 2008-09 said they’d book San Jose again. We go beyond logistics and serve as strategic partners for clients, helping them achieve their goals for the meeting. To continue streamlining service and value, we recently brought our food and beverage service in-house, run by culinary wizard Chef Lai, who creates custom menus sourcing local products. We also contracted with Nederlander Concerts to create more entertainment options to customers, such as Broadway San Jose and customized concerts at the newly revamped San Jose Civic.

Customized Concerts – With advance planning, Team San Jose works with Nederlander to offer customized concerts to clients at the newly renovated San Jose Civic.

Green Services – Team San Jose offers many services and practices to let planners host responsible meetings. A member of PG&E’s ‘Climate Smart Program’ to create a climate neutral footprint, Team San Jose uses electrically powered service carts around the convention center and theaters, uses energy efficient LED marquee and screens for advertising, and sets the thermostat at 68 degrees for heating and 78 degrees for cooling to maximize energy conservation. Recycling ranges from paper products, to carpeting, and food waste, and what cannot be recycled is donated to non-profit organizations for repurposing. They also offer products that are recyclable or compostable, such as plates, cups, silverware, napkins and box lunch containers, and is one of the few West Coast centers that can compost all products that are provided through the Convention Center and Cultural Facilities (for an additional fee). Our food and beverage program sources local vendors within 150 miles for the freshest, often organic, ingredients for customized menus.
