San Jose Convention Center Expansion and Renovation - Opening Fall 2013
The City of San Jose, Team San Jose and the local hotel community are thrilled to announce an expansion and renovation project for the San Jose Convention Center. The San Jose hotel community has secured on-going funding for the Convention Center by implementing a special, dedicated, city wide tax that provides project funding as well as ongoing capital maintenance funding to invest in San Jose’s future.

EXPANSION AT A GLANCE:
125,000 total sf of new, flexible space, which includes:
- 25,000 sf of flexible meeting space sq ft
- 35,000 sf flexible ballroom space
- Renovation and integration with the existing convention center
IMPROVEMENTS AND ADDITIONS:
- New ballroom
- More break-out flexible space
- Better way-finding
- Outdoor event space
- Upgraded technology
- Improved arrival experience
- Improved back-of-house function
DESIGN ATTRIBUTES:
This project will be lead by Public Works, with input from all stakeholders, including Team San Jose.
Hunt Construction Group has extensive expertise in Convention Center expansions and have successfully completed projects for Boston, McCormick Place West/Chicago, Moscone West, Phoenix, and others.
Bill Sherry, TSJ’s CEO, will be leading the project. He was recently in charge of the $1.3 billion Mineta San Jose International Airport modernization project, bringing it to completion ahead of schedule, under budget and with minimal-to-no interruption to operations and service.
