Last year Leigh Toldi's paintings and drawings evolved around traveling healthily through a state of chaos. This year's art, 900 Lives of Vision is a celebration of the "a-hah!" that comes from that successful ride. Concentrating exclusively on India ink drawing, the artist has created during the past four months 900 tiny drawings, each centering around the idea that we humans are amazing survivalists. According to Toldi, "Not only do we know how to survive great upheaval, but we also know how to transcend the mundane through our instinctive propensities for grace, beauty, and creative thought." Pivotal to the exhibition are the names and addresses attached to each drawing. Found in a file box thirty years ago, these names/addresses represent real people who have experienced the past 30 years in tandem, though physically remote from one-another. The individuals metaphorically stand beside the abstracted biographical stories created by Toldi, giving homage to Everyman's real-life struggles for optimistic thought during times of crisis and change.
