National Theatre Live - Salomé

National Theatre Live - Salomé
San Jose State University

South African director Yael Farber, called “one of the most memorable voices on the British stage,” (The Guardian), has crafted a spectacular new production of Salomé. This charged production re-imagines the biblical princess who demanded the head of John the Baptist on a plate, recasting her as principled and calculating with a political agenda, rather than a monstrous, heartless harlot.  With stunning visual effects including a cascading sand storm, this production – filmed live at London’s National Theatre - premiered in the U.S. where it was hailed as “Brilliant. Dream-like. Agile. Intriguing,” (Washington Post), “Exquisitely beautiful to watch even as it challenges and provokes,” (Broadway World), and “Magnificent, hypnotic, and quite magical,” (DC Theatre Scene).
