This time last year, the Department of Parks, Recreation & Neighborhood Services was gearing up for the City of San José’s second annual open streets event, Viva CalleSJ. This event transformed 6 miles of San Jose streets into a public space that attracted an estimated 100,000 residents to walk, bike, skate, and play in - tripling the attendance of our first open streets event!
This year, we’re back! On Sunday, September 17th, 2017 Viva CalleSJ will return to bring healthy activities, culture, and community to the streets. Our small but mighty team is hustling to gear up for the event, but we know that much of the impact of our open streets events is due to the strong and growing team of dedicated volunteers who help make this event possible every year. So whether you want to spread the word about Viva CalleSJ, help with setup and teardown, patrol the route, or monitor an intersection - we need you!
