East San Jose

East San Jose

The East Foothill landscapes are quintessentially Californian and one can get in touch with nature at any number of the parks situated in this part of San Jose. Alum Rock Park, Jospeh D. Grant County Park and the drive up to the astounding, not-to-miss Lick Observatory on Mount Hamilton are just a handful of the truly beautiful natural highlights this region has to offer. Fun abounds for families at the massive Raging Waters Water Park, Lake Cunningham Regional Park (which boasts the largest Skate Park in Northern California) and Emma Prusch Park; a small neighborhood park known for its free range peacocks and roosters!

East San Jose is also a fantastic showcase of the diversity of the city with Little Portugal and Little Saigon both found along East Santa Clara Street. San Jose is home to the largest Vietnamese population of any city outside of Vietnam, and while the population is integrated throughout the city, the heart of the community resides just Southeast of downtown. The Grand Century Mall on Story Road is a popular place to shop for Vietnamese goods and experience the full Vietnamese food court, and don't forget to partake of a traditional bhan mi sandwich at the original Lee's Sandwiches.
