The HP Pavilion at San Jose is Northern California’s premier sports and entertainment venue.
No city in the world is more closely associated with high technology than San Jose, the capital of Silicon Valley. And no facility anywhere is a better showcase for architectural excellence and technological innovation than the HP Pavilion at San Jose. Outside, a shining stainless steel facade supports a magnificent glass pyramid entry, which soars ten stories above the ground. Inside, state-of-the-art acoustics and leading-edge seismic engineering contribute to the building's growing reputation as one of the finest single concourse facilities in North America.
The building opened in September 1993, giving headline entertainment and major league sports a home in San Jose. But completing the facility was no simple task. There are 33,000 cubic yards of concrete in the new building, the equivalent of a 3-foot sidewalk running from the building's main entrance to the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. Structural steel used in the Pavilion weighs about the same as 300 African elephants. And if the HP Pavilion at San Jose's foundation pilings were stacked end-to-end they would stand two-and-a-half times taller than Mount Everest. The completion of the building was an important milestone in San Jose's emergence as a destination city.
The HP Pavilion at San Jose's convenient downtown location allows ticket holders to take full advantage of an urban setting -- with fine dining, bustling cafes and clubs, and a host of transportation alternatives.
The cornerstone of downtown San Jose, the Pavilion is located at Santa Clara and Autumn Streets.
HP Pavilion hosts a myriad of events, including NHL hockey, arena football, tennis, lacrosse, figure skating, corporate events, monster trucks, the circus, Disney on Ice, Harlem Globetrotters and every major rock, rap, hip hop, opera and country concert. The facility is flexible and can accommodate every type of event imaginable.
