One Washington Square, San Jose, CA

The Event Center Arena, located on the north side of San Jose State University holds up to 6,500 people for concerts and 4,600 people for sporting events such as the SJSU Spartan Men’s and Women’s Basketball games. In addition to its sporting events and guest speaker conferences, the center has hosted events for musical guests such as Pearl Jam, Sarah McLachlan and the Beastie Boys.

Originally constructed in 1958 and opened in 1961, the park was open for over four decades before it was closed in summer of 2008 to undergo a $72 million green renovation. The New Happy Hollow combines innovative green architecture with whimsical fun and is now the first park to ever become Gold Certified under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program.

Located in the Hellyer County Park, the Velodrome is administered by the Northern California Velodrome Association (NVCA), and may only be used during a session attended by a designated track supervisor recognized by the NCVA. As part of the American Track Racing Association (ATRA), members are working together to develop a base from which to build a strong track racing community in North America. For those interested in beginner or intermediate classes, they are available Saturday morning and afternoons.

The HP Pavilion first opened in 1993 with the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus being the first event. It’s now home to the NHL’s San Jose Sharks among other local sports and event performances. The HP Pavilion is also home to The Grill, a contemporary American cuisine infusing cooking techniques from cultures throughout the world, prepared with an American interpretation. The restaurant is open to all ticket holders prior to the San Jose Sharks Ice Hockey Games, SaberCats Arena Football Games, SAP Tennis Open and Major Concerts.

Sharks Ice at San Jose is the largest rink facility west of the Mississippi and is one of only seven rink facilities in the United States that currently operates at least four NHL sized ice rinks. With nearly 170,000 square feet of space, the facility easily accommodates ice hockey, figure skating, broomball, curling, speed skating, ice dancing and public skating activities.

Spartan Stadium is the official stadium of the San Jose State University Spartans football and soccer athletic teams. Past tenants have included the original North American Soccer League (NASL) San Jose Earthquakes, Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA) CyberRays and the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) San Francisco Dragons. Though originally built in 1933, the 4,000 seat facility was renovated in the 80’s to its current 31,218 seat capacity, and has hosted numerous FIFA (soccer) events, including the 1999 Women’s World Cup.
