Originally constructed in 1958 and opened in 1961, the park was open for over four decades before it was closed in summer of 2008 to undergo a $72 million green renovation. The New Happy Hollow combines innovative green architecture with whimsical fun and is now the first park to ever become Gold Certified under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program.
