Spartan Stadium is the official stadium of the San Jose State University Spartans football and soccer athletic teams. Past tenants have included the original North American Soccer League (NASL) San Jose Earthquakes, Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA) CyberRays and the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) San Francisco Dragons. Though originally built in 1933, the 4,000 seat facility was renovated in the 80’s to its current 31,218 seat capacity, and has hosted numerous FIFA (soccer) events, including the 1999 Women’s World Cup. In addition to football and soccer, the venue can accommodate other events such as concerts, circuses, car shows, monster trucks, motocross events as well as other sporting events, such as boxing, wrestling and volleyball.
