San Jose Walks and Talks

A one-hour walking tour visiting some well-known and some unknown downtown sites. Along the way student-guides tell some of the historic, funny, tragic and surprising stories of San Jose. Our guides are local San Jose students who’ve done their homework about the city of San Jose . Our guests local residents and a few tourists… just about anyone who enjoys a walk and a talk. San Jose Repertory Theatre

San Jose Repertory Theatre is the only fully professional regional theatre in San Jose, CA. San Jose Rep is committed to presenting provocative stories told by renowned playwrights, breathtaking designs created by accomplished artists, and riveting performances from award-winning actors. As part of their mission the Rep offers extensive community and educational outreach programs, including Red Ladder Theatre Company, Pay What You Will Nights, Creative Dramatics Summer Workshops, Creative Playshops for kids, post-show discussions, Ghostlight Forums and student matinees.

Theatre on San Pedro Square

The Theatre on San Pedro Square (TOSPS) is a black box theatre located on the 2nd floor of the historical Farmers Union Building in the Downtown San Pedro Square district of San Jose. With its old brick walls, plush leather seats, antique wood plank floors, sweeping red velvet drapes and 35 ft. mahogany bar, it’s no wonder the space is commonly referred to as “the destination for arts discovery in Silicon Valley.” Suitable for every kind of concert, performance, ceremony, film screening, reunion or corporate event, the theatre is available for rent throughout the year.

Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum & Planetarium

The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum began with one small artifact, a Sekhmet (lion goddess) statue, which stood on the desk of H. Spencer Lewis, the founder of the Rosicrucian Order, AMORC. Since then the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum and Planetarium has become an educational institution that uses trans-disciplinary approaches to increase knowledge about the past, present, future, and learning for greater public understanding and appreciation of the world in which we live, drawing on the wisdom of ancient traditions and modern science.

Willow Glen Children’s Theatre (WGCT)

WGCT strives to be one of Silicon Valley's most innovative children's theatres by providing programs and performances of original plays. We cast all children in our productions and firmly believe that children are transformed through the magic of theatre.

Phantom Galleries

Community artists have come together to enliven street-level downtown windows and public spaces with colorful exhibits, murals and installations. In 2001 Phantom Galleries was created as a project to encourage San Jose artists to help beautify areas that would benefit from vibrant displays and installations by exhibiting their artwork in the vacant storefronts and on existing construction walls. Today, the Phantom Galleries concept is a world wide movement to help revitalize entire neighborhoods enduring tough economic times.

South FIRST FRIDAYS

San Jose's SoFA District is an area full of potential. It has a history that includes independent retailers, cafes, restaurants, nightclubs, museums, galleries and creatives. Many of these unique venues participate in the South FIRST FRIDAYS art walk by presenting exciting exhibitions, live music and special performances.
Each venue has a unique personality and holds a place of importance in San Jose's art and cultural scene; together we hope to expand the public's experience of art locally by providing a casual and easily accessible flow between all the spaces.

ComedySportz

Not comedy about sports, but comedy played as a sport! Finally, a fun, fast-paced comedy show that's great for the whole family. It's ComedySportz, an award-winning interactive comedy show where two teams of "act-letes" compete for audience laughs and points while improvising scenes, games, operas and musicals based on audience suggestions.
