Incoming Board Chairman Charles J. Toeniskoetter to focus on convention sales and economic results

San Jose, CA (January 17, 2011) –Team San Jose’s incoming Chairman of the Board of Directors, Charles (Chuck) Toeniskoetter, took the reins Friday to lead the Board of Directors which oversees Team San Jose, the City of San Jose’s Convention Center,  multiple Downtown theaters and Convention and Visitors Bureau  management.

“With our management team, Team San Jose’s Board of Directors will focus on demonstrating strong fiscal and economic results for the City of San Jose,” said Chuck Toeniskoetter, Chairman of Team San Jose. “With a 97 percent favorable customer service rating, San Jose is poised to continue good results.”

Toeniskoetter co-founded Toeniskoetter & Breeding, Inc. Development in 1983 and has developed over 3 million square feet of buildings and serves as managing general partner for a number of diversified real estate properties throughout Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties.

In addition to a new Chairman of the Board, Robert Thomas, General Manager of the San Jose Marriott will step in as Vice Chairman of the Board. This announcement follows a number of Board structure and membership streamlining efforts made in November 2010.  Other Board officers continuing in their current roles are Mike Fox, Jr. as Treasurer and Andrew Bales as Secretary. 

Team San Jose’s streamlined approach integrates the Convention Center, hotels and area attractions into a seamless experience so any meeting from a small seminar to the largest citywide convention feels like you're planning and operating within the destination as you would in a single hotel property can easily be planned and coordinated.

Team San Jose’s results reflect a unique and successful model, a collaboration with local hotels, labor, arts and business groups. This past fiscal year, Team San Jose  achieved 102% of the performance targets and achieved 5 of the 8 performance measures established to stimulate the local economy and balance the fiscal needs of the City of San Jose, during one of the worst economic downturns seen in decades. Over the six years, Team San Jose increased revenue by 95 percent, compared to its predecessor.

The new Chairman of the Board will have an active role in the operations of the Board of Team San Jose.  The corporation is currently involved in a national search for a new CEO. In the interim, a transition team of the Board of Directors and the Executive Team of the corporation has been created to ensure continuity of Team San Jose’s business operations.
