SAN JOSE, CA (Sept. 26, 2013) – Before unveiling the new San Jose McEnery Convention Center during its Grand Opening weekend this October, Team San Jose and the Silicon Valley Business Journal are partnering to host this year’s Structures Awards. This will be one of the first events to take place in the new Grand Ballroom, the premiere new ballroom of the newly renovated and expanded Convention Center – complete with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Mayor Chuck Reed to signify the unofficial opening.
City and Team San Jose Officials announced the installation of an exciting interactive public artwork at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center Plaza. The artwork, entitled Idea Tree, creates a vast interactive exterior experience for visitors that references Silicon Valley’s creative idea landscape.
“Idea Tree is symbolic of the innovative spirit alive in San Jose and reinforces the technological advancements in Silicon Valley,” said CEO Bill Sherry.
