Amar Singh Trio
Amarinder Singh is a Bay Area native whose sound reflects the radical musical spirit of Northern California. Born in Vallejo and raised between Oakland and Berkeley, Amarinder was immersed from an early age in a region that birthed and nurtured funk, jazz, blues, hip-hop, punk rock, psychedelic rock, reggae, dub, gospel, alternative, experimental fusion, bhangra, carnatic music and Kirtan. The cultural electricity of the Bay Area shaped not only his musicianship, but his philosophy: music as liberation, resistance and connection.
Completely self-taught and deeply rooted in his Punjabi heritage, Amarinder approaches the bass as both instrument and voice. His playing is fluid, fearless and unconstrained by genre. He does not confine himself to tradition or expectation; instead, he channels a spiritual, mental and physical freedom that radiates through every note. Breaking barriers stylistically and culturally, he represents a new wave of artists redefining what contemporary music can be.
Amarinder brings his evolving sound to the Break Room stage, debuting original compositions while paying tribute to the musical giants who shaped him. For this special performance, he is joined by Brooklyn-bred legendary producer, singer, writer, and drummer Druvvy, alongside South Bay guitar guitarist (and Jazz Aid Fund awardee) Brian Sheu. Together, this trio promises a dynamic, boundary-pushing set.
