Molly Miller Trio
The Molly Miller Trio is a dynamic instrumental guitar ensemble known for its innovative approach to jazz, seamlessly blending intricate melodies, groove-driven rhythms and improvisational brilliance. Led by guitarist Molly Miller, the band fuses elements of jazz, rock, surf and Americana with expressive guitar work that is both sophisticated and accessible. The trio’s latest album The Ballad of Hotspur unfolds as an epic journey from bluesy opener "Cine" to Western-inspired "66 West."
Miller has been playing music since age seven, originally performing in a family band and drawing inspiration from Jimi Hendrix, The Beach Boys and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. She earned her BM, MM and Doctorate in Musical Arts from USC, where she now serves as Professor of Studio Guitar. Aside from leading her trio, she's played and toured with Jason Mraz, Black Eyed Peas and Scary Pockets at venues including the Hollywood Bowl, Royal Albert Hall and Coachella.
The Molly Miller Trio has toured as an opening act for Mraz and performed at Monterey Jazz Festival, Jazz at Lincoln Center and SFJAZZ. Its self-produced recordings capture the dynamic energy of their live shows, creating music that is real, alive and deeply felt.
