Akoma Arts

"Akoma" comes from the Akan language, the principal language of Ghana in West Africa. It means patience, endurance, consistency, and faithfulness. 

Akoma is a multi-ethnic group that takes a new and interesting performance approach. While representing West African drum, dance and vocal styles, they do not limit their experience to Africa. They include the African American, Latin American and Caribbean Diaspora in their performances. Akoma's vision and goal is to share our talents and experience in a positive and a encouraging manner, to help bring the various South Bay ethnic communities together. It is their hope that by sharing our respect for the arts and collaborating with all communities and ethnicities we can help promote unity.
