Children's Discovery Museum
The Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose is a hands-on museum in downtown San Jose dedicated to early childhood learning through play and exploration. Opened in 1990 in a distinctive purple building designed by architect Ricardo Legorreta, the museum features more than 150 interactive exhibits that invite children to touch, test, build, and imagine across science, art, nature, and culture, helping them develop critical thinking and creativity through open-ended play.
Exhibits range from water play and bubble explorations to life-size mammoth displays, pretend city streets, and outdoor nature space, making the experience engaging for a wide range of ages. The museum also hosts cultural celebrations and community-focused programs that reflect the diverse Bay Area population it serves.
