San Jose Civic
The San Jose Civic is one of downtown San Jose's most historic destinations and has been a cultural landmark for more than 90 years. Designed by Binder & Curtis in the Spanish California Mission style, the San Jose Civic opened its doors in 1936 and has welcomed generations of unforgettable performances, from The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Frank Sinatra, and Barbra Streisand to The Grateful Dead, The Beach Boys, and Duke Ellington. The Who even launched their first headlining U.S. tour at the venue in 1968. Beyond music, the Civic has hosted boxing legends, political events, dance productions, cultural celebrations, and family entertainment. Following a renovation completed in 2012, the venue blends its historic charm with modern seating, technology, accessibility, and guest amenities. Today, the San Jose Civic invites visitors to experience a legendary stage where San Jose’s history and vibrant entertainment scene come together.
