San Jose’s modern history with craft brewing began when Gordon Biersch Brewing Company opened their first location in 1988 featuring German-style lagers and ales made by co-owner Dan Gordon.

San Jose’s craft beer scene has grown from the legacy of Gordon Biersch into a hub of innovation and experimentation. In true Silicon Valley fashion, local brewers aren’t afraid to explore bold ideas and new techniques.
